I can’t believe it! I finally graduated with a masters degree.  It wasn’t easy but I am so glad I didn’t give up. My best friend Shannon had a celebration dinner at Eno’s Pizza in the Bishop Arts District (a favorite) and everyone chipped in and got me a special gift…a gorgeous heart necklace from TIFFANY’S!!! Can you tell how excited I am? So…now that I have my ME.d, I can start working on my Mrs. and Mom 🙂 It’s a charmed life.

Dreams

Standard

My dream world is rich with symbolism. Here are some other occurring themes:

Flying: Or space jumping rather. I am often in computer game-like worlds where my leaps are like Madagascar lemurs jumping high in slow motion. It is as if I am not bound by a centripital force- somehow defying gravity.

Swimming: I often dream of swimming more often than anything.  Usually with dolphins in a swimming pool.  The last swimming dream was so vivid It was almost scary.  I was in a Narnia-ish world. The swimming pool was large and full of navy blue water. I was swimming (and ironically I can’t swim) from one end to the other along with dolphins. A jet powered bubble blower blew gigantic bubbles over the pool. People lounge and sun bathed while enjoying the scenery. There was a man there (dressed like Hugh Hefner) but he was very humble. I and everyone else seemed to know he owned this magical world and he created it for us to enjoy.

Streets: I also often dream of neighborhoods, streets, and winding roads that meander to no where. I am lost. Usually walking but sometimes on a bike. It is a eerie journey, sort of like the journey Dorothy took in the Wizard of Oz. Oh! and there are evil monkeys in the trees peering down at me as I try to find my way. I never actually make it anywhere though..just wander aimlessly.

My dreams are so full of enigma that I began to wonder what they all mean. Just for fun I googled spiritual dream interpretations and found some interesting parallels between reality and the dream world. Here is what I found:

Street
To see a street in your dream, symbolizes your life’s path. The condition of the street reflects how much control you have over the direction of your life. Is there a name on the street which can offer some significance or hints to the meaning of the dream. To see side streets, refers to a need to explore and return to more traditional ways. It may also suggest and alternative way of life. *Please see also Road

Swimming
To dream that you are swimming towards the shoreline, signifies an increase in your financial standing. To dream that you are swimming in a pool, denotes much luck in love. In general, dreams of swimming indicate an exploration of your unconscious mind and emotions. It is a common dream image for people going through therapy. To dream that you are teaching someone to swim, signifies that you will be blessed with good fortune.

Dolphins
To see a dolphin in your dream, symbolizes spiritual guidance, your intellect, mental attributes and emotional trust. Utilize your mind to its capacity and you will move upward in life. Alternatively, it suggests that a line of communication has been established between the conscious and unconscious aspects of your self. Dolphins represent your willingness and ability to explore and navigate through your emotions. To dream that you are riding a dolphin, represents your optimism and social altruism.

Jumping
To dream that you are jumping over an object, symbolizes your success in any endeavour. You are showing great progress and the future looks promising. To dream that you fail to jump over an object, signifies disagreeable and intolerable affairs. To jump down from a wall, denotes disappointment in love.

Hungry for Adventure

Standard

Today was a fun day. After church we headed downtown to see what trouble we could get into. First stop was a delicious Mexican restaurant. I had the yummiest chile rellenos and couldn’t believe how spicy the guacamole was. Ouch! After a nice lunch we headed over to the Dallas World Aquarium. I can’t believe I have lived in this city for almost 10 years and have yet to explore it! I have heard some good and some not so good comments about the Dallas Aquarium but for me it definately didn’t disappoint. From the anteaters and exotic birds to the jellyfish and sharks, it was delightful. I’ll definately be back!!

Heree I am sitting pretty at the shark tank.

San Antonio

Standard

This weekend I was brave. I rented a car and drove to San Antonio all by lonesome. This was kinda a big deal for me since I’ve never really traveled alone this far except to my hometown. There was a moment that I wanted to turn around because fear was creeping in but I am trying to live life to the fullest now. Even if that means staring fear in the face and letting it entertain me for a second. This trip marks another notch for me on my “setting new intentions” board. I think that sounds like a good phrase for my motto this year. “Setting new intentions”…yeah, I like that.

“Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If
you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get
busy.” ~Dale Carnegie

Gratitude

Standard

Lord, I am grateful for the extra dose of courage you gave me today to live in the moment and stretch myself to do something different. Thank you for another sell in my Etsy shop! It is such a great feeling to do what I love doing and have people buy my work. I am looking forward to finding my own voice and style. I am believing it is on the way. I am thankful for summers off. I am thankful my cousin texted me back tonight about going to the Virgin Islands for Spring Break. I’m thankful my chicken and dumplin’s turned out so delicious. Thank you for the green candle that is glowing in my kitchen. Thank you for the call from Canada tonight. It felt good to hear from Andrew. Thank you for the rain today washing and renewing.
